Image
It's fascinating that people want more understanding of leadership processes than the person behind the leadership—for people it’s always more about the "how" and less about the "who". And for others, the "who" is more important before you can implement the "how". To address that need, here are some important ways to define Hon. Bago as a successful leader. Once you understand these elements, you’ll have the orientation to handle any process or theory that has to do with Hon. Umar Bago as your next Governor. His attributes as a successful leader are as follows: Bago is a successful leader because he's authentic in his ideologies. He is genuine; he's confident in all his ways while remaining teachable. A successful leader is cognizant, like Bago who's mindful and aware, attentive to everything h...

What Makes You Political Leader: Competence, Integrity And Authenticity

Image
There are three broad sets of qualities that citizens might expect politicians to display: competence, integrity and authenticity.  To be authentic, a politician must be judged to be in touch with the lives and outlooks of ordinary people and previous research has suggested that this expectation has grown more prevalent in recent times. The personality and qualities of political leaders has long been acknowledged as an important element of politics and influence on political attitudes and behaviour. In more recent decades, academic attention has turned towards how the expectations that citizens have of politicians determine these important dynamics. This increasing attention has been accompanied by the argument that these expectations and evaluations have become even more important over time, as partisanship in the electorate has declined dramatically. Citizens are less tied by loyalty to a party or candidate and thus might be more engaged in a process of judgement abou...

Image
It's election season and that means campaigns are expected to be openly truthful and honest as people vie for elected offices around the country. Someone who is wealthy or never been wealthy? Someone who relies on their religious views to guide policy?   Someone who believes religion should have no place in government? Someone who has contested and won elections before now? Someone who new to politics and never contested nor vied for any political position before? Someone who has been tested for 12 years as a federal legislator?
