Niger State: Its Time For Governor Of Bida Extraction To Emerge

Image
Niger State comprises three geo-political zones namely A, B and C. However, the leadership of the state (governorship position) hasn't favoured the headquarters of the Nupe people which is Zone A Senatorial District, Bida. The Bida people, precisely Niger South, have been marginalised in the state’s geopolitics. This is in spite of the fact that the zone has always backed other zones to produce leaders into the top positions at state and federal levels.  The denial of the Bida people is not because of a lack of credible and hard-working governorship candidates from Bida extraction. Thinking Out of the Box

If it was black, the debt would be wiped, but the loan-shark would then marry her.  If it was white, the debt would also be wiped, but the daughter wouldn’t have to marry the loan-shark. Standing on a pebble-strewn path in the businessman’s garden, the loan-shark bent over and picked up two pebbles. Whilst he was ...

Voters And Corrupt Politicians 1

Image
If voters dislike corruption, why does it exist amongst politicians, even in societies characterized by strong institutions and high accountability?  A possible, understudied reason for this phenomenon is that, sometimes, voters might knowingly vote for corrupt politicians and understanding this potential cause of corruption is important since corruption is thought to be a significant barrier to economic growth and democratization, these are central concerns for social scientists (Mauro 1995; Holmberg, Rothstein and Nasiritousi 2009) and policy makers.   Understanding the electoral roots of corruption should also help policy makers design suitable  remedies for the problem. However, Sofia Breitenstein a PHD holder from University Of Barcelona said "Why do voters choose corrupt politicians?" While, public citizens express their clear rejection of corruption and their intentions not to support corrupt politicians, empirical evidence shows that voters around the ...
