Personality Profile Of Hon. Mohammed Sani Idris Legbo Kutigi: A Dynamic & Contemporary Achiever
The true mark of a leader is the willingness to stick with a bold course of action — which makes Hon Sani Kutigi the conventional business strategist, a unique product-development roadmap captain, youth leader par excellence.
"In other words, real leaders are happy to zig while others zag. They understand that in an era of hyper-competition and non-stop disruption, the only way to stand out from the crowd is to stand for something special."
The good objective leadership skills of Hon. Sani Kutigi is to help those who are doing poorly to do well and to help those who are doing well to do even better.
Hon. Sani Kutigi, an Estate Surveyor, Banker, Business Developer, Entrepreneur and Politician was born on 25th October, 1972 to the renown and reputable family of late Honourable Justice Idris Legbo Kutigi, GCON.
As a very young and determined graduate of Estate Management, Sani humbly started his career with Bello & Co in 1999 (Dealing in Properties for Leasehold or Sale) before he was snapped up by Participant Properties Limited and engaged in capturing and valuing the prospectiveness of property investments in a Property Bulletin for the Northern Region.
By 2001, he was appointed by FSB International Bank to assist in organizational internal restructuring and co-ordination as well as to ensure effective protocol services for top management engagements. In 2006, Fidelity Bank Abuja harnessed his effectiveness and efficiency in performance, coordination as well as asset maintenance and value determination, making him the most dependable valuer and purchasing agent of the bank.
His sterling service to Fidelity Bank was short- lived as Alpine Investment Services Lagos couldn’t resist his mark in business development and strategies thus hired him as an Investment Analyst (Real Estate) and Head of Unit (General Internal Service); there, he delivered greatly in business and research activities centered around Property Valuation, Mortgage Backed Security (MBS), REITs and other Mortgage Sources of Finance.
Even at Lagos, the young Sani Kutigi became one of the most sought after, thus not surprising when Bi-Courtney Limited Lagos immediately wooed him to be the Project Development Manager of the first Public Private Partnership (PPP) Project that saw to the actualization of Murtala Mohammed Airport 2 (MM2).
The young Sani Kutigi then became a high flyer in the corporate business circle of Nigeria, influencing, coordinating and ensuring (at all levels) governments’ relation for top corporate players to drive growth in the nation’s economy.
This exposure and experience conveniently took him to the big stage, and in 2007, he made it to the prime position of Assistant Vice President, Government Relations of a Mega Corporation - Transnational Corporation of Nigeria PLC, TRANSCORP. Unfortunately, TRANSCORP was to be constrained by the fiscal regime of the succeeding political administration after May 2007.
Subsequently, his professional competence, wide exposure and huge influence was courted and won over by Etisalat Nigeria where he was appointed Regional Manager North, Government Relations in July 2008.
While at Etisalat, Sani Kutigi's remarkable achievements, huge influence and large heart caught the attention of his people who cajoled him to come back home and help out in their cause as a political representative. He heeded their call, resigned from Etisalat in July, 2010 and joined politics.
Sani Kutigi’s passion for community development as well as his uncommon generosity towards the people won him so many hearts. It was therefore not surprising that in May 2011, he contested and won the seat to represent the people of Lavun, Edati and Mokwa at Federal House of Representatives.
His constituents would attest to his community and social projects too numerous to mention. He was, and still is a very generous politician with a knack for human capacity development and empowerment. After standing for re-election and losing (due to 2015 change phenomena) he returned to his private business before his party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) welcomed his corporate exposure and political versatility to serve as the Special Assistant to the National Chairman on Special Duties, a job he did to the admiration of many till 2021.
So far, he has proven to be a practical, adaptive performer, thus becoming a very influential politician widely recognized at all levels of national political landscape of Nigeria.
Sani Kutigi, a member of Nigerian Institute of Estate Surveyor and Valuers graduated from the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Niger State and is currently running an MBA programme at the Netherlands Business School, Nigeria.
He has also attended a myriad of professional training courses on a variation of disciplines and aspects. Some of these include; Business Administration (University of Huddersfield); Negotiation and Decision-making (Harvard Business School); Estate and Revenue Mobilization (NIESV); Land use and Resource Management (NIESV); Performance Management (Lagos Business School); Fraud prevention (Nigeria Police Force) and others.
Mr Idris Kutigi, who is married, enjoys reading, writing and traveling.
