The late governor had returned to Nigeria in September, following a three-month medical leave spent in Germany. Despite his return, his health struggled, and he eventually took another medical leave, entrusting the duties of governance to his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa. During this time, Aiyedatiwa had diligently stepped into the role of acting governor, ensuring the uninterrupted functioning of the state's affairs.
