_Says more work needs to be done on local football, sports funding._  The Honourable Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, has attributed Nigeria's commendable performance at the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON), held in Côte d'Ivoire, to the collective efforts and determination of all stakeholders involved in Nigerian football. However, he emphasized that there is still significant work ahead for the Ministry and the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) to elevate Nigerian football to its rightful place on the continent and globally. Speaking during a media interview, Senator John Owan Enoh underscored the importance of developing local football, particularly focusing on enhancing the Nigerian league. Analyzing the Fellowship and Failure of Citizens in Nigeria

Image
"The Power of Grassroots Engagement: Shaping Nigeria's Future through Citizen Action" Nigeria, like many nations, bears the weight of citizen apathy and discontent when the face of governance becomes tarnished. The cacophony of voices rises, criticizing and casting blame on those in power. However, beneath the high rate of discontent, a disheartening truth remains - citizens often fail to engage at the grassroots level to ensure proper governance. The failure to exert influence from the bottom up has weakened the citizenry's position to affect meaningful change. The Nigerian populace is swift to express outrage at the shortcomings of elected officials, yet few are willing to engage in the critical task of oversight and accountability. The lack of checks and balances from grassroots initiatives leaves governance susceptible to the whims and oversight of those in power. There exists a collective negligence in putting elected leaders under scrutiny and demanding transp...

Nigeria Government at a Crossroads: What Can Be Done Differently for the Happiness of its Citizens?

Image
The recent removal of oil subsidy and the potential removal of electricity distribution subsidies have left many Nigerians reeling. With 90% of the population living in poverty, the government's decisions have raised concerns about the welfare of its citizens. Many are questioning whether the few wealthy and powerful individuals in the country are taking advantage of the situation, leaving the majority to suffer. It is imperative for Nigeria's leaders to recognize their responsibility for the welfare of their citizens. The ongoing oppression of the impoverished and the growing disparity between the wealthy and the less fortunate cannot continue. A society lacking a middle class, with only extremes of wealth and poverty, is not sustainable and hinders opportunities for personal and collective growth. The widening wealth gap is a troubling sign for the nation's future. It is crucial for Nigeria to address this issue and develop solutions that benefit the entire population, ra...

Niger State's Untapped Potential: Transforming Nigeria's Agricultural Landscape

Image
Niger State, home to the largest landmass in Nigeria, holds the key to transforming the country's agricultural landscape. Despite this, the state's agricultural potential has been woefully underutilized, leading to economic stagnation and missed opportunities for development. Under the leadership of Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, there is a renewed focus on reviving the agricultural sector and leveraging the state's vast resources to drive productivity and sustainable development. However, the governor cannot do it alone. It is imperative for stakeholders and the Federal government to rally behind this vision and provide the necessary support and resources to make it a reality. To fully harness the agricultural potential of Niger State, it is essential to engage and empower the youth to take an active role in the sector. By providing training, incentives, and access to resources, the youth can become valuable contributors to the agricultural value chain, from production to m...

They all reportedly suffered from shock and passed away while watching the game, with the referee's decision causing intense emotions.
