Why The Criticism? And Why Patience With Honourable SMA Is The Right Choice
My people of Bida, Gbako and Katcha, let’s talk honestly.
Yes, people are criticizing. Some are asking: “Where are the hospitals? The roads? The schools?” Others are counting the 370 motorcycles SMA distributed and asking why ₦370 million plus went to bikes instead of completing the abandoned hospital in Gbako/Katcha.
“Bikes fade. Hospitals heal,” they say. And I hear them.
But let’s also be fair with facts.
A Federal Representative’s job is different from what many people think. SMA’s seat is in Abuja. He goes there to make laws, speak for us at the national level, and fight to bring federal attention, funding, and opportunities back home to Bida, Gbako and Katcha.
The boreholes in your area, the grading of roads in your ward, the streetlights on your street — that responsibility lies with the Local Government and your Councilors who are closer to the ground.
Think of government like a house. The Rep helps design the plan and brings the materials. The local government are the builders who put the blocks. If we only shout at the person bringing materials and forget the builders, the house will never be completed.
While critics focus on what is not finished, let’s also look at what is moving.
370+ motorcycles have gone out to youths, leaders, and party structures. Those are not just gifts. They are tools for livelihood. For many, it’s the difference between staying idle and earning daily.
There is also a 20 million naira support fund for students through Efu Liman Jipan.
Beyond that, we have seen skills training, solar streetlights, boreholes, school renovations, and market reconstruction across Bida, Gbako and Katcha.
Is it perfect in every ward? Not yet. But to say “nothing has been done” is not true.
Now to the big question: hospitals vs bikes.
The criticism is valid. People want hospitals that will stand for 30 years, not bikes that last 2 rainy seasons. And SMA has heard it. He has publicly promised to go back and fix all projects he started on ground. That includes those abandoned health facilities.
The truth is, constituency funds are limited and projects take time. But we cannot throw away the whole farm because one crop is late.
What do people really want?
We want results. We want to see progress in our wards. And we deserve it.
But the answer is not to tear down the one representative who is always physically around. The answer is to support him, pray for him, and also demand better coordination between SMA, the LGA Chairmen, and Councilors so no ward is left behind.
Let’s be honest. Compared to many Reps in Niger and even across Nigeria that you won’t see until election year, SMA is present. He engages. He brings something to the table. You can agree or disagree with how he spends, but you cannot say he is absent.
This is not the time for division. This is the time to give a working representative the courage, the support, and the prayers to finish what he started.
Vote Continuity. Vote Development. Vote SMA For Bida, Gbako, Katcha.
Just My Thoughts.....
