President Tinubu: Have Pity on Nigeria. Is This the End of Hope?
~~ Ahman Makams
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration, barely halfway through its four-year term, has overseen a dramatic escalation of hardship in Nigeria. A stark picture emerges of policies seemingly devoid of human sympathy, pushing the nation to the brink.
A Mounting Toll of Suffering: The daily death toll, reportedly exceeding 100 due to escalating insecurity, paints a grim picture of a nation in crisis. This violence, coupled with a collapsing sense of security, underscores the profound human cost of current policies.
A Failing Infrastructure: Electricity supplies under Tinubu's watch are demonstrably worse than in previous administrations. This crippling energy crisis not only hampers economic productivity but also contributes significantly to the widespread poverty and hunger plaguing the nation. The collapsing electricity grid symbolizes the broader failure of infrastructure investment and the apparent disregard for the fundamental needs of the people. This stark reality highlights a crisis of leadership and prioritization.
A Growing Crisis of Hunger: Despite official pronouncements of declining food prices, the reality on the ground is a stark contrast. Nigerians are struggling to afford even a single meal daily. The collapse of income sources, as businesses shutter due to untenable economic conditions directly linked to the current administration's policies, exacerbates this catastrophe. The supposed downward trend in food prices seems to be a disconnect from the lived experience of the vast majority of citizens. This disconnect underscores the failure of economic policy to address the pressing needs of ordinary Nigerians.
Lopsided Governance: The administration's appointments are heavily criticized for their perceived regional bias, further marginalizing certain sections of the population and exacerbating existing inequalities. This lopsided approach to governance fuels societal divisions and mistrust, undermining the critical need for national unity and cooperation.
As a civilian government, freedom of speech is being threatened and people are not to cry when they are being flogged. Your policies don't have human sympathy and Nigerians are forced to keep quiet otherwise, the security agencies go after even ordinary Nigerians that dare open hungry lips to shout out for help. You are beating me and asked me not to cry out for help. President, have pity with your policies. Let us even have freedom to speak out what we don't want and to make us human in your administration.
A Looming Crisis of Survival: After only two and a half years in power, Nigerians face mounting hardship. The drumbeat for another four-year term, potentially leading to an eight-year presidency, is deeply troubling. The fear for the future is palpable. The people are asking: can Nigeria, with its current trajectory, sustain the suffering inflicted by these policies? The nation is clearly bleeding from the wounds of these policies, facing a future that may be impossible to recover from. The concerns of the people must be considered; the present policies are clearly unsustainable. A change in direction is not just desirable; it's absolutely vital for the survival of the nation. Nigerians deserve a government that prioritizes their well-being and creates an environment where businesses thrive, not crumble, and where hope—not despair—takes root.
President BAT, Have Pity ....
