Consolidating Projects By A Progressive Representative Of the People,  Rt.Hon Bala Faruk

A solid, soft and warm personality is always special and very useful to his people, especially when he represents integrity, honesty and fear of God in what he is doing in terms of what has been entrusted with for his Constituents.

Hon. Faruk has been a dedicated Representative of his community since he joined politics in 2002 He stands out as being a unique and committed legislator who devoted his time, resources and energy to his Constituents, even while out of office. Another quality that stands out about him is putting people above personal interest, which he says is most important for a true Representative to have.

Having served at different times as a Local Government Councillor; Member, Niger State House of Assembly and later, at the Federal House of Representatives, Farouq undeniably has what it takes to make a very serious parliamentarian. This experience makes him exceptional and able to focus on building his people, promoting peace and accommodating people of his constituency, irrespective of religion, culture and gender.

His bid to vie for the Senatorial seat, therefore, comes as no surprise to those who know and understand his antecedents.

His cognate and relative experience will add value to the Senatorial seat when he gets there and he will certainly not be a novice there. His capacity, exposure, competence and performance is no longer in doubt. Over and above all, he will change the narrative of people's representation in the Red Chamber by impacting more on uplifting the economic status of activities in NIGER SOUTH SENATORIAL DISTRICT.  Changing the narrative in terms of sacrifice and selfless service to his people.

Hon Faruk was quoted as saying; "Sad enough, people or constituents are living in abject poverty or economic backwardness. And many have gone there and are still going there for their selfish enrichment." "In fact, my manifesto and agenda is just a two points agenda insha Allah, namely-

1. Economic and Agricultural revolution in Niger South senatorial district and

2. Industrial evolution in Niger South senatorial district."

He continued by saying; "Insha Allahu, at the end of my four years in the Senate, Niger South Senatorial District will become a hub or One-stop Shop of Agricultural value Chain. Generating and creating jobs, employments and business opportunities for our people (sic)."

"In the final analysis, we will be able to liberate and free our people from economic slavery and bondage of these kleptomaniac politicians."

Hon. Bala Faruk's consolidating projects from local level to the top are as follows;

1)) As a Councillor, Hon. Faruk was able to organize a summit on Education which attracted notable personalities like late Prof. Shehu Marafan Nupe; late Alh Shehu Musa, Makaman Nupe and some prominent elders in the community as at then. A communique at the end of that summit will complete the story for you. No Councillor has done it till date in Niger State.

2)) As a follow up to the Education Summit, Hon. Bala Faruk donated 200 pieces of furniture to the primary schools in Umaru Majigi B ward. This sigular project almost attracted the then Minister for Education. No Councillor has done this in Niger State till date.

3)) He also donated some chalk and other instructional materials to the primary schools in his ward for two years.

4)) As a Councillor, he organized extra mural classes for primary 5&6 classes, as well as SS2/SS3 classes preparing for JAMB, WAEC, NECO, etc. This was done in collaboration with Bangbara Development Forum and Agaba Development Association. He used his monthly salary to give stipends and transport money to the volunteering teachers.

Most of the beneficieries of this extra mural classes are now graduates, some with masters degrees and some have excelled in different fields of human endeavour.

Funny enough, he finished his tenure without a Car and without a motorcycle, while his colleagues were driving Cars and building their houses. Hon. Bala did a lot more than even mentioned above.

It is on the record: He was the best Councillor in Niger State from 2004-2007 and probably the unbeatable Councillor to date in Niger State.

As a councillor, he made a very significant impact in the entire Bida local govt and this made Bida people to promote him to contest for council Chairmanship and later catapaulted him to Niger State House of Assembly.

Hon. Bala Faruk is well known as the only politician that operates zero treasury with a lot of sacrifice and selflessness. There are countless projects he did as Member State House of Assembly but only a few are mentioned below:

5)) As a Member of Niger state House of Assembly, Hon Bala Faruk provided food items annually during Ramadan and Sallah festivals. This annual festival has not been beaten to date by any politician from 1999 to date because of the quantum, size and measurement of any standard.

6))  During that time, Hon. Faruk also sank seventeen boreholes in Nasarafu ward; fifteen boreholes in Bariki ward ; fifteen boreholes in Dokodza ward ; five in Umaru Majigi B ward ; seven in Umaru Majigi A ward ; three in Landzu ward ; three in Mayaki Ndajiya ward. In summary, over SIXTY TWO FUNCTIONAL AND OPERATIONAL BOREHOLES AND OVER TWENTY UNCOMPLETED OR ABANDONED BOREHOLE PROJECTS.

7)) He was able to register over 2000 students for NABTEB, NECO & WAEC; over 2000 students for JAMB; assisted over 5000 students of tertiary institutions with their registration fees; helped over 5000 students with food items while in the school and 5000 students with transport fare to schools across the federation.

8)) Hon.Bala Faruk empowered more than fifty persons with motorcycles and bought over fifty cars for some beneficieries; he sponsored over twenty people to Hajj and Umra; facilitated over two hundred marriages; carried out over fifty marriages from A to Z; facilitated over five hundred naming ceremonies; numerous and countless medical and health related interventions, including surgical operations; rescued and liberated numerous people from debts or financially related problems from police stations, courts and other alternative reconciliation programs; embarked on several but realistic youth and women empowerments; and general stomachs infrastructural interventions of varying degrees; put smiles on the families by assisting them with rents/tenants and landlords crisis;

9)) Bala Faruk as Rt. Honourable Member, House of Representatives was very magnanimous, compassionate, considerate and selfless to say a very big thank you to the good people of Bida/Gbako/Katcha Federal constituency for supporting and voting APC with a wonderful, thunderous and landslide victory in the 2015 general elections by providing FOUR TRAILERS OF RICE to the Constituents( Ramadan 2015 ).

10)) In the House of Representatives he attracted Federal presence in his federal constituency with the following:

A. Ten motorised Solar boreholes
B. Fifty simple motorised boreholes
C. Solar street lights at Bisanti ward
D. Thirteen transformers
E. Electrification program at picifu, mamafu etc in Edozhigi ward
F. Computer Training of 350  students in ESA ward
G. Renovation of a block of classrooms at ESA ward 11. Youth empowerment program for five hundred beneficieries,  each going home with 30,000 ( 2017 and 2019 ) and other several ecological intervention programs, directly or indirectly facilitated by Rt. Hon. Bala Faruk

11)) Rt. Hon.Bala Faruk was able to distribute Registers, Diaries, lesson note books and others to all the local education authorities ( LEAs ) in the three local govts of his federal constituency in 2015/2016 and these were used for some years.

12)) Rt.Hon. Bala Faruk was able to distribute the following for his Constituents in 2015:

1. One hundred tailoring/sewing machines
2. Seventy generating sets
3. Ten vulcanizing machines
4. One hundred motorcycles
5. Thirty tricycles (Kekenapep)
6. Twenty freezers
7. Ten Cars in 2019

13)) Rt. Hon. Faruk was able to carry out special empowerment programmes for one hundred people where some beneficieries went home with 100,000 naira each; some with 200,000; and others with 300,000.

14)) Similarly, he supported some postgraduate students with not less than 100,000 each; ten law students with at least 350,000 each for their Law school. Rt. Hon. Bala Faruk spent at least 2 million naira monthly on students' scholarships and bursary allowance; at least 2 million naira monthly for medical interventions; at least 2 million naira monthly for community social services.

15)) Bala Faruk as Rt. Honourable member, House of Representatives, had built 15 mva electricity injection substation that will service Bida, Gbako, Katcha, Agaie, Lavun, Edati, and some parts of Mokwa and Wushishi. This project was completed at the cost of TWO HUNDRED AND THIRTY FIVE MILLION NAIRA with additional FIFTEEN MILLION NAIRA EXTRA EXPENSES, a total of 250 MILLION NAIRA.

At this juncture, let me remind us that this money was generated through 2016, 2017 and 2019 ZONAL INTERVENTION PROJECTS (ZIP) with additional 25% counterpart funding from HIS EXCELLENCY, ALH ABUBAKAR SANI BELLO. Most important and significant of all is that Bala Faruk was the first Legislator that came on air to inform Nigerians about "ZIP".

He did not stop at this, he further advised Nigerians to wake up from their slumber and start identifying, tracing, monitoring, tracking and checkmating their annual zonal intervention projects (ZIP) in the budget, such that no Legislator will take them for granted to divert or siphon the "ZIP".

It is no wonder that Hon.Bala Faruk did not only resolve but was committed to judicious, accountable and prudent utilization of "ZIP" for his federal constituency. This project was similar to a direct project because no federal agency can award a project of this magnitude at less than 450 million naira today. Secondly, no legislator has done a project of this scale and vector quantity or quality since 1999 to date.

Quoting him, he said,
"Late Senator Dahiru Awaisu Kuta (RIP) started 7.5 mva located just before Paiko junction, he could not complete it before his demise and it still lies there as an uncompleted or abandoned project. May God reward him for his best and sound intentions for his people, ameen. Another Senator from South East started a 7.5 mva but abandoned it; although he is also late now.

If the Honourable Minister of Power can travel and commission a 5mva or 7.5mva injection substation built by Federal Ministry of Power, why can't he be invited to commission a 15mva, especially because it was built by an individual Legislator and twice the size of the ones he(the Honourable minister) had commissioned in the past?", he lamented.
