Hon. Bago Is A Potential Gateway For The Growth Of A New Niger State- Mohammed Abdulkadir Lapai

Mohammed Abdulkadir Lapai is the Coordinator and CEO of Bago TV and Ayi Bago Ahuta, Including Dan- Adala support group. Also the Board Chairman of Chata Foundation, a humanitarian NGO based in Minna. He is also the Patron of Kal-Babaiye Foundation set up to ensure that youths and the society are free from illicit drugs. Currently the MD of Trustline capital Ltd and CEO of White jewel ventures and Cubiq Conventional Ltd. 

The Dan-Adalan Lapai is a politician and grassroots leader and a big supporter of Rt.Hon. Bago. He spoke with TMG on these endeavours and many more. 

Family background 》

Mohammed was born in the early 70’s to the royal family of Umaru Daudu Maza, the founder of Lapai Emirate (Birnin Maza) in Lapai local government area, Niger State. 

TMG》What is the significance of the title you hold, Dan-Adalan Lapai? 

MAL》The title was given to me in 2019 due to my devoted time, belief in my kingdom and the respect I have for my people. Due to my legendary skills in conflict management/ resolution among my people and the community, these have distinguished me as a gentleman in the royal family. 

TMG》You are also the Chairman, Chata Foundation and Patron of Kal-Babaiye Foundation. Coordinator and CEO of Bago TV and Ayi Bago Ahuta, Including Dan- Adala support group. Can you explain your roles there?

MAL》My recognition as a grassroots leader, with experience in managing issues with people as well as my uncommon good fortune and dint of hard work are what made Hon. Abdulrahman J.G Muhammed to choose me as Chairman, Board of Chata Foundation. The foundation is a Minna-based Humanitarian and Non-Governmental organisation.

I am also the patron of Kal-Babaiye foundation, set up to ensure that our youths are free from indulging in Illicit drugs in Nigeria. I am also a patron of Niger State Beach Soccer Association.

TMG》Among your busy schedules, you are also into politics. Why the interest?

MAL》To make a positive change in my little capacity, to stand for the masses and speak for the voiceless. In general, I joined politics in order to change the narrative of how it has been played in tbe past. 

TMG>> What are the values you will add differently from other politicians?

MAL》To be truthful in all circumstances and to ensure fulfillment of all promises; to bring innovative strategies for implementation of policies that will boost Niger state economically. 

TMG》Tell us more about your support groups for the Gubernatorial Candidate, Bago. 

MAL》As I engaged myself into politics, I  established the *Dan- Adala* support group and also became patron of *Ayi Bago Ahuta*. I belong to other various political platforms such as APC Door to Door Network, Door to Door Bago campaign and several others.

TMG》Why creating and investing in such organisations like Bago TV and Ayi Bago Ahuta, Including Dan- Adala support group for Bago? 

MAL》Creating the organizations is what I feel is essential for effective planning and mobilization of Nigerlites to showcase and provide a voice for our aspirant and Nigerlites at large. It is aimed at promoting the aspiration of Hon. Bago and to reach out to the people at the grassroots.

TMG》 What do you see in Bago differently compared to other Candidates?

MAL》Our brother, Hon. Bago has qualities that are different from other aspirants because he’s a vibrant young man; he has the experience, he is a human capacity builder and promoter of peace, he is accommodating irrespective of religion, culture and gender. In other words, he is a potential gateway for the growth of our dear state- a New Niger.

TMG》Can you elaborate more on Bago as an APC aspirant and the chances of him becoming the next Governor of Niger State?

MAL》Personally, I feel he is the best candidate for the job. He is naturally energized by his experiences and responsibilities associated with the position he is aspiring for. He is capable because of the following: 

a- previous roles and experiences 

b- choice of profession or field ie Political science BSC holder 

c- career growth and development, i.e political and financial sector, empowerment and many more. 

As a Federal law maker he has gained valuable insight and experiences that will help in governing the state. He also has the reputation and cultural values, career development and work- life balance.

TMG》How far have you gone in your campaign to reach out to people?

MAL》As it is now, we are very far gone with our campaign strategies and it’s still on-going. Though we have embarked on reaching the masses Door to Door, which is very essential and with this, we are 100% sure in achieving our mandate In shaa Allah.

TMG》How do you involve women and youths to make your platform get better representation for them to vote for Bago?

MAL》Increasing women and youth participation in the electoral processes has been our main focus. There is also an effort to mobilize the female votes and boost support for female candidates from different platforms therefore, countering women and youths chronic under representation and expanding their involvement in decision making bodies as well as local and National governance. These have been at the heart of the communication campaigns in support of youth and women participations. Also to recognize the important role of social mobilization in promoting youth and women empowerment.

TMG》What about other candidates in the same party vying for other positions; is there anything you're doing differently to make them successful?

MAL》Similar campaign strategies are being adopted for other candidates vying for other positions APC.

TMG》 A few Nigerlites have said Bago is arrogant and unapproachable but alot of people dismissed that aspect of him. What can you add to that?

MAL》Our man, Hon Bago is a good brother and not arrogant at all. Infact, he is accommodating. However, our society of today in some instances requires a radical approach to make things work; this is necessary to tackle the menace in our society.

TMG》 How do you envision Niger State come 2023 when Bago becomes Governor?

MAL》Accessing information easily, setting priorities, managing the governor’s office and staff, selecting key personnel based on merit, having an implementation committee on every blueprint, provide useful bargaining chips for working with legislators and important stakeholders, allocating fiscal resources, Government reorganization, enterprise solutions,economy & efficiency reviews , reduction of fraud & abuses, shared services, employee involvement and empowerment. 

TMG》What advice can you give Nigerlites to vote for Bago as the best candidate?

MAL》Bago is a candidate that has fire in the belly, he makes a good candidate and has the desire to win and is willing to overcome obstacles. He is a servant- hearted, hard working, able to communicate, gives clear messages, a team player who has political experience, knowledge of the issues and support of family etc...Thank you.
