Remembering a Legacy of Excellence and Compassion
Bida, Niger State -- It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of a remarkable individual, Alhaji Aliyu Danjuma Galadima, affectionately known as Galadima Gari Nupe. A man of great wisdom, extraordinary talent, and unparalleled generosity, Alhaji Galadima has left an indelible mark on our hearts and minds.
Born on the 15th of March, 1957, to the revered family of Late Alhaji Ibrahim Tako (Galadima Nupe) and Late Hajiya Aishetu Giwa, Alhaji Galadima's lineage is steeped in history, tradition, and honor. Hailing from the Banna descent, his father's side has long been associated with noble contributions to the Nupe Kingdom, while his mother's ancestry ties back to the prestigious Royal family of Kpotun Aliyu.
At the tender age of four, Alhaji Galadima embarked on a journey with his father to Lagos, where he commenced his primary school education in the bustling Obalende area. However, destiny called him back to his hometown, Bida, in 1966, where he continued his studies at Sabon Gida Primary School. Determined to embrace knowledge, he ventured to Sokoto in pursuit of his secondary education, completing it between the esteemed Government Colleges of Bida and Sokoto.
Alhaji Galadima's voracious appetite for learning led him across continents. After returning to Nigeria, he obtained his GCE O Level in London and then enrolled in remedial courses at Niger State Polytechnic Zungeru. Eager to deepen his knowledge in architecture, he studied at Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, earning both his undergraduate and master's degrees in the field. His commitment and dedication were recognized when he was employed by the esteemed Niger State Government as an architect in the Ministry of Works, then later transferring to the Housing Cooperation in 1985.
In 1990, Alhaji Galadima seized an invaluable opportunity and joined the prestigious Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) as an Assistant Manager in the Building Engineering Department. Over the course of 26 remarkable years, he ascended the ranks, retiring as an Assistant Director in 2016. His contributions to the CBN, combined with his exceptional architectural talents, have left an indelible mark on the landscape of Nigeria.
Beyond his professional success, Alhaji Galadima was a compassionate selfless philanthropist, investing in the lives of orphans, funding the construction and renovation of mosques and Islamic schools, and providing educational opportunities for the less fortunate. His acts of kindness were not performed for public recognition but were instead carried out silently and sincerely, benefiting countless individuals and leaving an enduring legacy.
In recognition of his unwavering commitment to his community and the Nupe Kingdom, Alhaji Galadima was bestowed with the esteemed title of Galadima Gari Nupe. This title was not only a reflection of his personal achievements, but also a testament to the heritage passed down through generations from his great-grandfather. His coronation by His Royal Highness Etsu Nupe, Dr. Yahaya Abubakar, was a profound honor that encapsulated the respect and admiration he commanded.
Although Alhaji Galadima has departed from this transient world on the 23rd of January, 2024, the impact of his life will continue to inspire generations to come. His dedication to his family, as a loving father of ten girls and seven boys, and a devoted husband to his three wives, will forever be cherished. He leaves behind a legacy of twenty-two cherished grandchildren, who will carry his name and values with pride and honor.
As we bid farewell to our beloved Daddy, Husband, Grandfather, Brother and dear friend, we find solace in knowing that his spirit will always be alive in our memories. May Allah grant him eternal peace and bliss in Aljannah. Aameen Ya Rabbi.
Rest in Paradise, beloved Alhaji Aliyu Danjuma Galadima, you will be deeply missed.
