Amina Abdulmalik Halidu-Giwa, CEO and Founder of Bida Exclusive Events Centre, sat down with TakeMyGist to discuss her inspiring journey from a successful career at the Central Bank of Nigeria to becoming a trailblazer in the events planning and management industry. Known for her dedication to empowering women, youths, and promoting financial independence, Hajiya Amina's visionary leadership is driving positive change in both business and community realms. The grand opening of Bida Exclusive Events Centre at Bida GRA was graced by HRH Alhaji Dr. Yahaya Abubakar, the Etsu Nupe, and Chairman of traditional rulers in Niger State and the Coordinating Committee of the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria.
TMG> Tell us about yourself?
》My name is Amina Abdulmalik Halidu-Giwa. My father, the Late Alhaji Shehu Ahmadu Katcha, was once the Head of Service for the Niger State Government, and my mother was the late Hajiya Fatima Shehu Ahmadu Katcha. I am the second child among over 30 siblings. I attended LCC Ijero Municipal School in Ebute Metta, Lagos for my primary education, Government Girls' College in Sokoto, and later Government Girls' College in Minna for my secondary education. I pursued my university education at the University of Sokoto, followed by additional education at the India International Trade Centre in Pune, and I obtained a Master's degree from the University of Ghana Legon. I joined the Central Bank of Nigeria in 1993, where I worked until my retirement last year. I have been happily married to Major General Abdulmalik Halidu Giwa (Rtd) Taimako Nupe for 43 years, and we are blessed with children and grandchildren.
TMG> Tell us what inspired you to venture into events planning and management, ultimately leading to the establishment of Bida Exclusive Events Centre?
》Upon retiring from service last year, I wanted to remain active and decided to invest in my hometown. While many friends suggested Abuja as an option, I chose Bida. I believed that establishing an event center in my hometown would be a meaningful endeavor.
TMG> What distinguishes Bida Exclusive Events Centre from other event venues in the area?
》Bida Exclusive Events Centre stands out due to its excellent location, convenient facilities, well-built infrastructure, serene environment, ample parking space, and high level of security.
TMG> How has the support of you and your husband contributed to bringing this vision to fruition?
》My husband has been incredibly supportive. I married him at the age of 17 with only a promising WAEC result, and as he progressed in his military career and acquired numerous certificates, he made sure that I did the same. He strongly advocates for the financial independence of women, emphasizing the importance of being prepared for any unforeseen circumstances such as divorce or the loss of a spouse. When I shared my plans to build an event center in Bida, he provided unwavering support, encouragement, and blessings for the project.
TMG> What types of events do you envision hosting at Bida Exclusive Events Centre?
》We aim to accommodate a wide range of gatherings, including weddings, conferences, seminars, workshops, birthdays, religious events, and other celebratory occasions.
TMG> How do you ensure that each event is personalized and tailored to the specific needs of your clients?
》We prioritize listening to our customers and understanding their preferences and expectations to ensure that the services we provide at the center are customized to meet their needs satisfactorily.
TMG> How do you address unexpected challenges or last-minute changes during events?
》To ensure the smooth functioning of our business, we have developed thorough contingency plans to effectively handle any unexpected challenges that may arise during upcoming events. This includes preparing for disruptions, emergencies such as natural disasters or security issues, and other unforeseen incidents that could impact our operations. Our plans outline specific steps to minimize any negative impacts and ensure the resilience and success of our business in challenging circumstances. Additionally, we will regularly review and update these plans to ensure they remain relevant in our ever-evolving business environment.
TMG> What feedback do you anticipate receiving from clients who have hosted events at Bida Exclusive Events Centre?
》We anticipate that our clients will be highly satisfied with the services we offer and will recommend our venue to others.
