Disrupted Continuity: The Cycle of Confusion and Inconsistency in Nigeria's Leadership

~~ Ahman Makams

Nigeria has been facing a recurring issue with its leadership, one that many citizens argue is hindering the nation's progress. The lack of continuity in governance has become a serious concern as each new leader brings in their own ideas and innovative approaches, often abandoning the projects and social amenities initiated by their predecessors.

This trend is most prominently seen during a change of leadership from one political party to another. The incoming leader often criticizes the previous administration for poor performance or bad leadership, resulting in a complete overhaul of policies and projects. This constant switching of directions has left many Nigerians wondering how the country can move forward and meet the aspirations of its citizens.

Furthermore, even within the same political party, there are accusations of underperformance and lack of vision. This lack of coherence and continuity in governance has led to a vicious cycle of corruption and poor governance, as each leader focuses on short-term gains rather than long-term sustainable development.

It seems that many Nigerian leaders are more focused on securing power and maintaining their influence, rather than implementing lasting change for the benefit of the nation. This mentality has only served to exacerbate the confusion and lack of direction in Nigerian leadership.

In order for Nigeria to truly progress and meet the aspirations of its people, there needs to be a shift in mindset among its leaders. They must prioritize the needs of the population over personal gains and work towards continuity in governance, building on the successes of previous administrations rather than starting from scratch with each new leader.

Only through a concerted effort to break free from the cycle of confusion and inconsistency in leadership can Nigeria hope to achieve its full potential and provide a brighter future for its citizens.
