I Want To Become One Of The Best Bridal Makeup Artists- Baraka Isa Degri

Baraka Isa Degri is CEO of Bssmakeover that offer makeup services in Abuja and Zaria. She talks to TMG about her aspirations and how she is able to strike a balance between her studies and her business, which she says is due to the passion she has for working hard.

TMG> Tell us about yourself:

Baraka> I come from Gombe State. I started nursery school in Gombe International School and went to Shining Star Nursery&Primary School, Gombe. Then I proceeded to Shining Star College where I did my secondary and O'levels. Later on I read Diploma in Law in A. B. U Zaria, where I'm currently doing my Degree in History.
My place of business is usually Abuja/Zaria although my makeup service has me travelling to different places.

TMG> What made you go into sales?

Baraka> Well, since I was a child, I looked forward to the day I'd own my own business and be my own boss instead of always asking my parents for money.

TMG> What sort of goods does your company sell?

Baraka> The actual business service I render is makeup, but I also sell veils, freshly made drinks(zobo, chapman, tamarind juices and lemonade);Masa and I'm also a distributor for Oriflame cosmetics.

TMG> Which areas do you need to improve in your company?

Baraka> I need to improve in advertising and packaging my goods and services.

TMG> What do you feel the next step is for you to develop your sales skills?

Baraka> Basically, I really want to learn how I can organize and present my goods and services in a unique and more attractive way.

TMG> You are also an Oriflame Consultant. What do have to tell readers about this job? What do you do as consultant?

Baraka: Well, Oriflame is a company in Sweden, whose products are excellent and suitable for the use of all. It's a paying job you can do from anywhere you are; all you have to do is register with them and as you buy, you also get paid but that's only if you're a Consultant. As a Consultant, I advertise their products and register people who are interested in becoming consultant too.

TMG> What are some of the challenges you have faced in starting your company?

Baraka> Alhamdulillah, I can proudly say none thus far, because I got full support from my Family and Friends and I will forever be grateful for that

TMG> What excites and motivates you the most about the world of beauty?

Baraka> Practically everything that has to do with enhancing and promoting beauty

TMG> How many employees report to you and how efficient are they? If you are alone how do you manage?

Baraka> Employees will come later since I'm still developing. Alhamdulillah, I manage very well

TMG> What do you do to stay educated about new trends?

Baraka> I am always researching

TMG> What are your challenges and how do you intend to handle them?

Baraka> Hmmm, not getting paid on time. I intend to apply the pay- before- service style

TMG> Tell us about your management style and how you handle your Customers?

Baraka> Alhamdulillah, my customers always refer and come back due to their satisfaction with my services

TMG> How do you balance your studies with the business?

Baraka> It has not been easy at all but I thank Allah. I always try to balance my studies and my business in a way none will get affected.

TMG> What is your ultimate career aspiration?

Baraka> To become one of the best Bridal makeup artists by Allah's will.

TMG> Tell us about the greatest goal that you’ve ever accomplished professionally?

Baraka> I've accomplished alot in my makeup skills and knowledge about the beauty world.

TMG> Who are your role models and people that inspire you to move on in the world?

Baraka> Hmmm, there are quite a number of them but  my Mum especially.

TMG> What kinds of sacrifices have you had to make to be successful?

Baraka> Putting my pocket money in line and especially my time

TMG> What way can you encourage other youths not to depend on government for jobs and become self- dependent?

Baraka> I believe once you have something you admire or love doing which is legal and you can actually engage in, then you should probably go for it and not wait or depend on the Government to provide for you.

TMG> Do you socialise and when?

Baraka> Yes I do socialize at my leisure time.
