Personality Profile: Hon. Mohammed Usman, Team Leader And Mobilizer

Mohammed Usman is another grassroots leader who has held several offices including Senior Special Assistant to the Chairman Competition and Consumer Protection Tribunal (CCPT) and a one-time senior legislative aid in the 7th Assembly.

Mohammed hails from Bida Local Government of Niger State and was born on 22nd February, 1971 in Doka District of Kaduna North Local Government area of Kaduna State.

As a young man growing up, Mohammed has been a team leader and mobilizer to youth activities which opened many opportunities for him. He has had a privileged life being well-brought up by his parents and having had the opportunity of acquiring both Islamic and Western education.

He had his early education in 1977 at L.E.A Maiduguri Road Primary School in Kaduna State, where he obtained his First Primary School Leaving Certificate in 1983. 

In 1984, Mohammed proceeded to Government College, Bida Niger state for part of his secondary education and went back to Kaduna in 1987 after 3 years to continue with his education at Rimi College where he received his General Certificate of Education O’level in 1989.

In 1999, Mr Usman graduated with B.sc Sociology from Usman Danfodiyo University Sokoto, Sokoto State. 

A blessed child always takes a good step by accepting serious responsibilities. When Mohammed finished his secondary school education, and before he went for his degree at Usman Danfodiyo University Sokoto, he decided that adding value to his life was better than being idle while awaiting admission to the higher institution. He, therefore, took up a job with Gurara Security And Finance limited as a Clark Assistant. 

His second work experience was when he went for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) beteeen 2000 to 2001 at Central Bank of Nigeria Abuja. He later became a Manager in 2007 at Beltimore Tax and Finance limited, Abuja. 

In 2010 to 2014 he got another job as a Desk Officer with United Cities and Local Government of Africa, West Africa Regional Office and, due to his hardwork and being a trustworthy personality, the Senator representing Zone A Senatorial District of Niger State, the Nupe speaking aqrea of Niger and Majority in the State, Senator Mustapha Sani appointed Mohammed as his Senior Legislative Aid at National Assembly in Abuja, between 2015 to 2019. 

Presently, Mohammed is the Assistant Director, Relationship (ADR) of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON). 

Hon. Mohammed has also supported the promotion of rural governance through ALGON having served as a one-time Desk Officer United Cities and Local Government and other responsibilities under ALGON.

He is also the Principal Partner at UBM Global Limited.

Mr Usman has attended trainings and conferences in different parts of the world some of which are:

> Strategic Management of Sustainable Local Economic Development Projects for Local Government Authorities and Municipalities at Centre for Regional and International Development in London 2011.

> National Conference of Black Mayors in Atlanta, Georgia 2013.

> Constitution of the Legislative Arms in the Promotion of Democratic Governance, Zabeel International Institute of Management and Technology in United Arab Emirate (UAE) 2020. 

> The Legislative and Economic Recession, Rows of the Legislative Aid, National Assembly Service Commission- Abuja in 2016.

> Induction Training of National Assembly Legislative Aid in 2015.

> Annual Africa Public Sector Human Resources Managers Network (APS-HRMnet) Conference, Rabat Kingdom of Morocco in 2019.

Back in school, Hon. Mohammed liked to play Basketball and he was a star in Aerobics. He creates a lot of time for reading reformer books, research and travelling. 

Mohammed Usman is married with Children.
