Is Farmer Governor Umaru Bago Aware of the Educational Crisis in Niger State's Rural Areas?
~~ Ahman Makams
Governor Bago cannot do it all alone. Members of state of Assembly and local government Chairmen should help to develop their communities and Constituencies, most especially in the area of education. Commissioners of education needs to wake-up and do special tours to local communities to see if the schools have teachers and if yes, are the teachers going to schools to teach? How are the schools looking like? Why would communities even build classes by themselves and no teachers or any government interventions when the state recognizes the schools exist?
There was a program on Bida Power FM where people from rural communities were complaining about the backwardness and lack of seriousness from the ministry of education that His Excellency Farmer Governor Umaru Bago may not be aware of what's going on in Niger State's educational system. Farmer Governor Umaru Bago needs to set up a very serious team to check around what's happening from the grassroots. Are underage children supposed to be going to farms with their parents and abandoning schools?
Let local communities also feel the impact of good governance in education. Governor Bago is doing better and can do better with good teams to make Niger State work excellently. And he can't do it alone without the support of Nigerlites.
