The Calamity of Adultery: Today's Friday Sermon Highlights Allah's Warning and Consequences
~~ Mahmud Ashraf
The Friday sermon today focused on the topic of adultery, a serious sin that is strictly forbidden in Islam. The imam began the sermon by reciting verses from the Quran that condemn adultery and emphasize the importance of maintaining chastity and purity. One such verse is from Surah Al-Isra, where Allah says, "And do not approach unlawful sexual intercourse. Indeed, it is ever an immorality and is evil as a way." (17:32)
The imam further elaborated on the severe consequences of committing adultery, both in this world and in the hereafter. He explained that adultery not only destroys the sanctity of marriage and family life but also leads to the breakdown of societal morals and values. The Quran warns believers of the severe punishment for engaging in such immoral behavior.
The sermon also highlighted the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) where he stated, "When adultery becomes widespread, then you should know that a calamity is about to happen to the people." This highlights the gravity of adultery and its detrimental effects on individuals, families, and society as a whole.
The imam urged the congregation to fear Allah and abstain from committing adultery, emphasizing the importance of seeking forgiveness for any past transgressions. He reminded the worshippers that no matter how difficult the temptation may be, it is crucial to remember the consequences of disobeying Allah and the importance of upholding morality and decency.
In conclusion, the sermon served as a solemn reminder to the congregation of the gravity of adultery and the need to strive for righteousness and purity in all aspects of life. The worshippers left the mosque with a renewed sense of commitment to avoid committing such a grave sin and to seek forgiveness and guidance from Allah.
